ONLINE GROUP CLASSES-Series 4
Online somatic movement classes: Learn these gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers!
Wear comfortable, flexible clothing, and have a chair, mat and 5 folded towels or 3 yoga blankets ready as props.
Series 4, July 18-Aug 8: Please note 2 different time options below. Recordings of classes available for participants. After class, we take around 15 min for discussion and feedback. You can either sign off at class end, and email me your feedback or stay on and listen whether you feel like commenting of not. Always a pleasure to hear your results, suggestions, questions, and answers. All classes come with audio recordings.
July 18: “Somatics for Silky Spacious Shoulders” applies these gentle but powerful movement techniques to 360 degrees of shoulder movement. In the process, we will interact with muscles of the ribs, spine, pelvis, and effect change to function of the arm, wrist, hand.
July 25: “Increasing Somatic Intelligence for Torso, Legs, Feet” We will re-pattern muscles from the center out to the feet, including attention to all sides of the pelvis, upper, lower legs and feet. If you’ve taken a legs and feet class before, this offers some new approaches and sequences.
Aug 1: “Comfort, Ease for Hands, Wrists, Arms, Shoulders” This class will offer some detailed re-patterning of muscles of fingers, hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, and bring it back to center.
Aug 8: “Creative Somatic Explorations in Space” We will use somatic strategies, pandiculation, and gentle movement exploration in a very playful and creative way, letting our body speak. It has a lot to say! These explorations can be adapted to standing or sitting versions to keep everyone safe. Let’s create a playful conversation between you and your splendid brain/body/nervous system!
Classes may be purchased as a 4 class bundle, or single classes, all still at covid discount prices.

Location: Online Zoom platform. (if you are new to zoom, you must download the app at zoom.us prior to class. It takes 10 min to do so, and is free)
Policy for Late Arrivals: Kindly arrive no later than 5 min prior to the start of class. Late arrivals after the start of class may not be admitted. It is distracting to the class, teacher, and recording process. If you are late and not admitted, but have paid for the class, you will have access to the recording.
