Wed series 10, Jan 26-Feb 16. 4 class bundle

Jan 26: Melting winter body stiffness is about noticing the body’s response to cold, a drawing in, constricting muscularly, that leaves us feeling less mobile, spacious than we’d like to be. We will use these gentle, powerful neuromuscular movement techniques to bring light and space to the inside and mobilize our joints and muscles. 

Feb 2: Exploring 4 Diaphragms within the Body. There are many horizontal diaphragms that expand, contract, and support us throughout the body, including under the skull, ribs, pelvic floor, and feet. Via pandiculation, we will bring more intelligence, awareness, ease and circulation to them all. 

Feb 9: A Somatic Approach to Gentle Strengthening applies these techniques to create long, strong, smart muscles. Both gentle and more challenging versions of each movement will be offered to serve all fitness levels and issues. 

Feb 16: Somatic Strategies for Neck, Shoulders offers floor, sitting, and standing sequences to ease shoulder tension, decompress your cervical vertebrae, bringing blood flow and nourishment to the nerves serving your head, face, eyes, ears, throat. 

These classes may be purchased as a 4 class bundle, or as single classes. Audio recordings come with each class, so if you miss a live class from the bundle, you have the recording to enjoy. Classes are approximately 75-90 min. If you wish to share comments or ask questions after class, you are welcome. Zoom platform. Links will arrive the day before class.

Online somatic movement classes: Learn these gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers!

Wear comfortable, flexible clothing, and have a chair, mat and several folded towels and/or 3 yoga blankets ready as elevation, props. Practice setting up your camera view so that I can see your entire mat, with sufficient lighting, and no back lighting such as a bright window.

Location: Online Zoom platform. (if you are new to zoom, you must download the free app at zoom.us prior to class. please don’t wait til the last minute.

Policy for Late Arrivals: Kindly arrive no later than 5 min prior to the start of class. Late arrivals after the start of class may not be admitted. It is distracting to the class, teacher, and recording process. If you are late and not admitted, you will have access to the recordings the next day.
