Sat Series 9  Jan 9, 16, 23, 30, 2021

Jan 9: “Melting Winter Body Stiffness” is about noticing the body’s response to cold, a drawing in, constricting muscularly, that leaves us feeling less mobile, spacious than we’d like to be. We will use these gentle, powerful neuromuscular movement techniques to bring light and space to the inside and mobilize our joints and muscles.

Jan 16: “If you can sense it, you can change it” invites your talented brain to go from subtle “motor planning” all the way to fuller somatic movement, and back again. This class will take basic somatic movements and break them down, and use our brain’s natural ability to create change, ease, intelligence in the body. This is an especially gentle class, with the goal of sensing deeper and more subtle layers of muscular action.

Jan 23 “Somatic solutions for Neck Issues” begins in the center, and shines the light of the “new learning” part of our brain on improving comfort to shoulders, neck, head, decompressing vertebrae, restoring mobility. We will explore many vectors of head, neck, shoulder movement.

Jan 30: “From the Ground up” begins on the floor using pandiculation to prepare our bodies for larger, creative movement sitting or standing. We will address relationship to the space around us and inside our bodies. Let’s invite ourselves towards playfulness and celebrate our spectacular body/brain/nervous system and its neuroplasticity, the potential for new learning at every age and phase.

It is distracting to the class, teacher, and recording process. If you are late and not admitted, but have paid for the class, you will have access to the recording. Thanks for your support and understanding with this issue!

Online somatic movement classes: Learn these gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers!
