WEDNESDAY ONLINE GROUP CLASSES-Series 8, Sept 15, 22, 29, 2021
Wed Series 8, Sept 15-29, ’21
Sept 15: “Creating a More Intelligent Spine” addresses the muscles deep to the spine and in the torso in a variety of planes of motion, to decompress the vertebrae, and bring circulation, nourishment to the bones, discs, fascia, and the many muscle layers of your spine, and restore intelligent movement and control.
Sept 22: “Improving knee health” offers somatic techniques to bring balance to this hard working joint with attention to upper, lower leg, pelvis and torso, all of which may affect how well it functions.
Sept 29 “If you can sense it, you can change it” invites your talented brain to go from subtle “motor planning” all the way to fuller somatic movement. This class will take basic somatic movements and break them down, and use our brain’s natural ability to create change, ease, intelligence in the body. This is an especially gentle class, with the goal of sensing deeper and more subtle layers of muscular action, sensation.

Pay it Forward Payment option: My prices are still extremely low to support people still experiencing financial stress during covid time. I have included a ‘Pay it Forward’ Option for the Class Bundles. If you can afford a little more for these valuable classes with audio recordings, please choose the ‘Pay it Forward’ option when purchasing the Class Bundles. Your contribution will help support me and your fellow humans who cannot afford anything extra just now. Thank you in advance for choosing this option!
What you will need: comfortable, flexible clothing, a chair, a mat or other padding for the floor, several towels or blankets folded as props, and a quiet place to take your class. Practice ahead of time setting up your device so that I can see all of you on your mat. The best camera angle is slightly above looking down, which works best with a laptop. Avoid back lighting like a bright window, as I wont be able to see you.
Policy for Late Arrivals: Kindly arrive at least 5 min prior to the start of class. Late arrivals after the start of class may not be admitted. It is distracting to the class, teacher, and recording process. If you are late and not admitted, you will receive the audio recording the next day.
Please sign up 24 hrs in advance if at all possible. If you are last minute, you run the risk of me not seeing your registration in time, and you won’t have the link for the live class.
What to expect: These classes include gentle, slow motion somatic movement sequences, mostly done on the floor on a mat, and sometimes a sitting or standing sequence. If you have limitations regarding getting to the floor, have severe pain, are on pain medication, or have had recent surgery, please contact me prior to signing up for these group classes. It may be that a 1 on 1 session will better serve your needs.
What is Somatic movement? This work offers gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers in this ever changing and challenging world! :-)
