WEDNESDAY ONLINE GROUP CLASSES-Series 6, June 9-30, 2021
Wednesdays Series 6, June 9-30, 2021
June 9 “Exploring the Basics” offers a review of the foundation movements and elements of your somatic practice, and an introduction for people newer to this work. We will use basic movements in 4 relationships to gravity, and discuss what’s behind this excellent system based on the changeability of the entire “soma”, meaning the experience of being human, on all levels, 1st person perspective, from within.
June 16 “Restoring Spiral Movement to the Body” is about re-educating brain, nervous system, muscles to their full movement potential, and giving back the body’s ability to turn, twist and move with freedom. We need spirals for many every day activities, including seeing behind you while biking or driving.
June 23 “Changing Kyphosis and Lordosis” focusses on the front and back of the spine and torso in a variety of positions, from floor, to all 4s, to standing. If your upper body is curved too far forward, that’s excessive kyphosis. If your low back is very arched, that’s excessive Lordosis. We can improve both with these techniques.
June 30 “Somatic Strategies for Uneven Posture” addresses issues that come with the contractive patterns of scoliosis, or a twist, hiked hip, or low shoulder. For those that have taken the Scoliosis workshop, this class is a revisiting and review of some aspects of the course.
Class A: 10 am London UK; 11am Oslo, Paris; 12pm Finland; 5pm Perth; 7pm Brisbane and Melbourne Australia.
Class B: 10am Seattle PCT; 11am Calgary MT; 12pm Nashville CT; 1pm NYC ET; 2pm Halifax; 6pm London UK; 7pm Oslo, Paris; 8pm Finland.
Location: Online zoom platform. A link will be sent to you prior to class. If you are new to zoom, you must download the free app prior to class at zoom.us (please don’t wait to the last minute. it takes 10 min or more to download)
Pay it Forward Payment option: My prices are still extremely low to support people still experiencing financial stress during covid time. I have included a ‘Pay it Forward’ Option for the Class Bundles. If you can afford a little more for these valuable classes with audio recordings, please choose the ‘Pay it Forward’ option when purchasing the 4 Class Bundles. Your contribution will help support me your fellow humans who cannot afford anything extra just now. Thank you in advance for choosing this option!
What you will need: comfortable, flexible clothing, a chair, a mat or other padding for the floor, several towels or blankets folded as props, and a quiet place to take your class. Practice ahead of time setting up your device so that I can see all of you on your mat. The best camera angle is slightly above looking down, which works best with a laptop. Avoid back lighting like a bright window, as I wont be able to see you.
Policy for Late Arrivals: Kindly arrive at least 5 min prior to the start of class. Late arrivals after the start of class may not be admitted. It is distracting to the class, teacher, and recording process. If you are late and not admitted, you will have access to the audio recording the next day.
Please sign up 24 hrs in advance if at all possible. If you are last minute, you run the risk of me not seeing your registration in time, and you won’t have the link for the live class.
Learn these gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers in this ever changing and challenging world! :-)
