Nov 10 “From Slow to Flow” begins with pandiculation and moves into flow, gentle movement explorations in a variety of positions, sitting, floor, standing, with rich imagery. A playful gentle movement class to celebrate our Somas!
Nov 17 “Focus on Sacroiliac Joint and Sciatica” offers a variety of movements to bring the muscles towards balance that impact the sacroiliac joints, to improve chronic pain, inflammation, in the SIJ and other pelvic issues like sciatica.
(no class Nov 24)
Dec 1 “Creating Mobile, Sensual Scapulae” The scapula, or shoulder blade connects to the clavicle or collar bone, to form the shoulder girdle and joint for top of arm. This joint has the most movement potential of any joint in the body. It has only one bony attachment, and all the rest is muscles connecting to ribs, spine, head, neck in all directions. It is also the holding site for emotional tension, stress, and can lock down in response to injury, surgery, repetitive motion, or lack of motion. Lets re-educate those muscles to set the shoulder free again!
Dec 8 “Psoas and Deep Torso” offers a deep somatic dive into the inner muscles layers, which effect all functional movements, breathing, posture, and re-educate them to a fuller, optimum resting length. By doing so, you decompress the spine, open up the front of the body, and make new space, mobility on the inside.
Dec 15 “From the Ground up” begins on the floor using pandiculation to prepare our bodies for larger, creative movement sitting or standing. We will address relationship to the space around us and inside our bodies. Let’s invite ourselves towards playfulness and celebrate our spectacular body/brain/nervous system and its neuroplasticity, the potential for new learning at every age and phase.

Online somatic movement classes: Learn these gentle but powerful self-care techniques to bring new mobility, intelligence, sensation, control to the muscles, and teach the brain to bring muscles to their optimum resting length. We will avoid stretch and pain, and approach the nervous system in an entirely different way. This movement technique, based on the work of the late neuromuscular pioneer, Thomas Hanna PhD, reverses and releases the contractive patterns present in your nervous system, the imprint of your history, both emotional and physical trauma. You can teach your nervous system a calmer setting, excellent for stress reduction. If your nervous system is more calm, your intelligence is more available to you, perfect for what we need right now, which is to be more resilient, adaptable, and better creative problem solvers!
